About Honey

Bees do not gather honey with the purpose of benefitting the humans. They do so in order to preserve their species. Honey is one of the elements of their "diet," and once picked by the bees, it is stored in honeycombs as food supply. Bees "produce" honey with the use of a special nectar secreted by glands located in various plants. These plants can be divided into two categories: nectar producing plants and honeydew plants. While bees pick the nectar directly from the nectar plants once it has been produced, the case of honeydew plants differs, as the bees collect the dew, once it has been processed by aphids and woodworms.

It is the origin of the raw honey, at the moment of production by the bee, which places it in one of the three honey categories: nectar, dew, and nectar-dew honeys. If the bees were collecting the nectar in a area where there was a dominant blossoming and nectar producing plant such as lime, buckwheat, heather, acacia, dandelion, chestnut or lavender, we know that the overwhelming majority of the honey stored in the honeycombs will be from the netar of this dominant blossoming plant. The name of this honey is then derived from the name of the plant, and a separate honey category is created - for examply acacia honey. Even though today this simple fact is common knowledge, and most people do not even pay attention to it, a little over ten years ago the only honey category available in Polish stores was "honey." CD S.A was the first company in Poland to carefully select and categorize the various honey kinds into categories, which we named families. A honey family consists of the same honey kind (for example buckweat), but is offered in many different packaging options. With the passing of time, our "honey families" have grown along with us, as we constantly strive to enrich our offering with new types of innovative packaging in order to serve our customers the best we can.

All of the products made from a particular honey kind combine three characteristics which have not changed from the very begening:

1. Honey - with a veryfied high quality, derived in a traditional way.
2. Graphic design - which goes well with the colors characterictic for the particular honey kind.
3. The company logo of CD S.A - we guarantee the safety of all these products and take full responsibility for them.

We are proud that we can participate in the unusual journey of the "honey drop" - a drop that has been taken by a plant from the ground, bathed in sunbeams, tucked in the flower petals and enriched with the meticulous and hard work of both the bee and the bee keeper, and then labeled and packaged with great care. All of these efforts are made with one purpose - to create great taste and improve health.
